Barge Launch

I wanted to share some pictures of the barge launch we attended this weekend. A co-worker and I took our families down to Gunderson in Portland, OR this Saturday morning to watch General Construction’s newest barge being launched into the Willamette River. The Kiewit 201 is a 200’x50’x12’ Deck Cargo Barge (drawn by yours truly), the second one built, and was launched with much fanfare. We followed the bagpipes through the shipyard to the barge, and there was a really nice reception following the launch with more bagpipes! It was really cool to be able to bring my family and show them a glimpse of what Glosten in working on. I hope you enjoy it, too.
